摘要:Quality is contextual. It is very difficult to give a comprehensive definition of quality. The best teacher of a particular school may be a poor teacher in some other school. However, the quest for quality has been the major concern of the entire human civilization. Quality is not an act, it is a habit. It generally signifies the degree of excellence. It is the totality of features and characteristics of the product, process or service that bear on its ability to satisfy stated or implied needs. In the educational context, quality is seen as a complex issue as education is concerned with human being. When we describe human being as as product, the description cannot encapsulate all the characteristics of teachers or learners in the same way, as one would describe the quality of commodities. Hence, the definition of quality varies depending upon the individual, institution and educational situation, social and national context.
