摘要:We conducted a questionnaire of mothers of fifth and sixth grade students to clarify the relationship between parental attitude and consciousness about learning contents of home economics at elementary school. Significant differences were recognized depending on parental attitude in the measure of the degree of interest in, the degree of awareness of the importance of, and the frequency of teaching by themselves at home about learning contents of home economics. Significant differences depending on child gender were recognized in the measure of the degree of interest in and the frequency of teaching by mothers about learning contents of home economics. But in the measure of awareness of the importance of learning contents of home economics, significant difference was not found. From these results, it became clear that mothers acknowledged the importance of home economics regardless of their children's gender, but boys' mothers taught their sons about life skills less frequently than girls' mothers. With regard to basic skills in clothing like “using a sewing machine”, “sewing by hand” and “button sewing”, the frequency of teaching by mothers was low regardless of their parental attitude. It was suggested that most mothers expected their children to learn basic clothing skills at school.
