摘要:The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship of sports groups with cognitive development, socio-emotional and physical fitness in adolescent athletes. The stage of adolescence, between 10 and 19 years old, is permeated by profound biological changes, psychological and social. It is known that 14% of Brazilian adolescents participating in sports, but the sedentary leisure options have grown considerably. The games played in modern societies have common elements in their structure and with the passage of time these games were no longer a leisure activity to become a professional activity. The practice of sport in childhood and adolescence can lead to health benefits that extend into adulthood. Moreover, during the game there are behaviors and actions that give collective sports unique features, built on intelligence and decision and cooperative relations between the team-mates and opposition between the opposing teams. In this study it was found that the practice of team sport, proved to be important for cognitive development and socio-emotional teenagers when athletes worked properly by professionals.
