  • 摘要:Objective: The objective of this study was to demonstrate the eating behavior of both men and women who exercise in the morning, at a gym club in Curitiba. Materials and methods: There were 22 physically active people studied, aged from 18 to 50 years. The research is characterized as a descriptive study performed through a simple survey. Results: 83.3% of survey respondents said that they eat before a workout. The most reccourent period of food ingestion before exercising among women (33,34%) was around 15 and 30 minutes, while between men (50%) it ranges from 30 to 45 minutes. The most consumed food itens by women were: coffee (53.33%), margarine or butter (46.66%), fruits, white bread, skimmed or semi-skimmed (40%); on the other hand, men chose sample juices, yogurt, water , or semi-skimmed milk (75%), white bread and whole wheat bread (50%). All men and 67.7% of women believe their meal before workout is correct. Everyday practices duration from 60 to 90 min were predominant among women, while to men the prevalent length of exercising ranges from 30 to 90 min. Concerning to symptoms during their exercises presented by the group of active people, 59.09% of them reported to feel thirsty; 22.72% related fatigue; dizziness was described by 18.18%; 13.63% presented no symptoms; 9.09% felt drowsiness; and 4.54% had headaches. Discussion: Morning exercise practicers keep the habit of consuming food before workout. Conclusion: There is no doubt that it is necessary the consumption of the correct food itens before exercising. Key words: Nutrition, Breakfast, Feeding Behavior, Feeding Pre-Exercise.
