摘要：A novel lipase inhibitor Shamstatin was isolated from soil isolate , identified as Streptomyces sp. The lipase inhibitor was produced by the organism at optimized fermentation conditions. The intracellular Shamstatin was extracted using ethanol as a solvent and subjected to chromatographic purification. Shamstatin was elucidated to be: 6-ethyl- 5methyldihydro-2H-pyran-2,4(3H)-dione, a cyclic diketone having molecular mass of 156.17908. Shamstatinwith an IC 50 of23ng/μl showed dose dependentmixed type inhibition towards porcine pancreatic lipase.Italso exhibited in vitro lipase inhibitory activity against hormone sensitive lipase
