摘要：In vitro pollen germination is the simplest method to test pollen viability and also can be exploited forstudy of pollen physiology. A nutrient medium (in vitro) is supplemented with some essential compounds necessary forpollen germination and tube growth. During in vitro pollen germination and tube growth the need and concentration ofsucrose in the medium was ascertained Impatiens balsamina, an important horticultural plant was selected of variousconcentrations tried 0.8% sucrose gave good percent germination. As a major component of pollen tube reservescarbohydrates have a vital role to play in its germination and growth. Sucrose is the best carbohydrate source for pollengermination and tube growth for most of the systems investigated.
