摘要:User perceived latency has become a potential problem due to the increase in internet traffic. Web caching is an effective means of reducing user perceived latency. Web prefetching is an attractive solution which relies on web caching to reduce access latency. There are two kinds of algorithms that are currently used for prefetching i.e., linear algorithms and data mining algorithms. Web prefetching reduces user access time, but it requires more bandwidth and an increase in the network traffic. Performance measurement of prefetching techniques is primarily in terms of hit ratio and bandwidth usage. The important factor in deciding a prefetching algorithm is its ability to choose objects to be fetched in advanced. In this paper, a detailed analysis of various existing prefetching algorithms have been proposed.
