摘要:Spatial and seasonal variations in water quality in Nullah Palkhu were studied applying multivariate statistical techniques such as Cluster Analysis (CA) and Discriminant Function Analysis (DFA) from nine sampling stations commencing from September, 2004 to July, 2008. HACA separated three different groups of sites: Le ss Impaired Region, Impaired Region and Moderately Impaired Regions. DFA separated six variables for spatial (DO, COD, NO 3 , PO 4 , Cr and Zn) and temporal (Temperature, EC, Na, K, Fe and Pb) responsible for major variations in water quality. Most of the wate r quality parameters were recorded above permissible level. In the light of statistical analysis and human activities in the catchment of Nullah Palkhu, multiple anthropogenic sources such as tanneries, industrial units, municipal sewage, surface and agric ultural runoff. The results suggest urgent need wise management of human activities in catchment of Nullah Palkhu and also highlight the importance for immediate decision making process and restoration
