摘要:Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs) empower tiny sensor nodes to be placed in or on human body to monitor vital physiological features. In this paper we present energy efficient and reliable cross-layer design for WBANs to offer health monitoring. Our proposed protocol not only improves energy efficiency but also packet delivery ratio using both contention-free and contention-based approaches and by transmitting packets utilizing tree-based hierarchy respectively. The MAC layer delivers local information to network layer to facilitate WBANs packets transmission towards desired destination. Simulation results on MATLAB show that our proposed protocol has improved energy efficiency, reliability in terms of packet delivery ratio, throughput and delay as compared with Enhanced MAC and Body MAC protocol.
