摘要:The dialogue Phaedrus presents a hard problem of interpretation to Plato’s readers: how to unite the two main themes discussed in the text – love and the art of discourses. In a recent work, the italian scholar Franco Trabattoni proposes the idea that Plato unites the themes of love and art of discourse through a thesis about the nature of philosophical thought and discourse. This thesis, says Trabattoni, implies the recognition of philosophical knowledge limitation in its pretension to access the truth. In this article it’ll be argued that Trabattoni’s interpretation, by omitting important aspects of Plato’s text, is inadequate.
