摘要:The main aim of this paper is to analyse the role of intellectual,personal and emotional competencies as well as technicalknowledge - academic achievement - in the employment ofuniversity graduates, with the purpose of incorporating thesecompetencies into training programmes developed within theEuropean Framework of Higher Education. This study is basedon an initial sample of 118 university graduates in the field ofeducation. We have gathered information about academicachievement and the intellectual, personal and emotional traitsof this sample. From these data, and given the importance ofnon-intellectual aspects of intelligence associated with professionalsuccess, the specific contribution -incremental validity- of personal and emotional intelligence in explaining theemployment - labour integration - of university graduates inthe field of education is studied. From this point onwards, weattempt to identify the key socio-emotional competencies inthe field of education in order to establish the implications ofincluding this type of skills in university training programmeswithin the European Higher Education Area.
