摘要：Felsefî dil ve terminoloji yapımı Arap tarihinde önemli bir gelişmeydi. Biçimlenen tarzda bir gözden geçir-me, onun modernleşmesine kendisini adayan kimselere yol gösterebilir. Bu alanda elde edilen başarının ölçüsü onun sı-nırları kadar kaynaklarını da gösterme konusunda yardımcı olur. Bu çalışma, yazarın daha önce 13 Ocak 1962’de Yale Üniversitesi Oriental Society’de verdiği Woodward konfe-ransından ortaya çıktı. O, felsefî terminolojinin Arapça ve Farsçada oluşturulduğu tarzdaki bir taslağını verme iddia-sındadır. O bu konuda alanın kapsamlı bir gözden geçirmesi olmamasına karşın taze zemini parçalar. Bu çizgi boyunca pek çok şey kalır.
其他摘要：The creation of philosophical language and ter-minology was an important development in the history of Arabic. A review of the manner in which it took shape can be of guidance to those who are committed to its moderni-zation. And the measure of success accomplished in that field helps to demonstrate its resources as well as limita-tions. This study grew out of the Woodward lecture which the author delivered before the Oriental Society of Yale University on January 13th 1962. It purports to give an out-line of the manner in which philosophical terminology was created in Arabic and Persian. In that respect it breaks fresh ground though it is by no means a comprehensive re-view of the field. Much remains to be done along that line.
