标题：THE INFLUENCE OF DIAGNOSIS AS A SOCIAL CHARACTERISTIC OF PERSONS WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY ON PRACTICING SPORT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

摘要：In this scientific paper we have researched the influence of diagnosis as a social characteristic of persons with intellectual limitations on practicing sport and physical activity in the Republic of Macedonia. For successful research, persons with intellectual limitation had been asked to answer the questions from a questionnaire. The survey included total number of 101 respondents, citizens of the Republic of Macedonia, categorized as persons with intellectual disability, regardless of their gender, ethnic, religious, socio-economic and residential qualification and their diagnosis determined upon medical analysis. Out of the total number of registered persons with disability in the Republic of Macedonia, 2% of this population has been surveyed in this research, which is a relevant number for successful interpretation of the results gained. There were several options given for the respondents in the questionnaire to state their social and socio-economic data, among which diagnosing disability in the respondents. The general conclusion is that the state and its institutions, either state or local, each within its own competence, must pay much more attention to this issue, i.e. must provide institutionalized opportunity for the persons with intellectual disability to practice sport and physical activity in the Republic of Macedonia..
