摘要：International university rankingshave become a tool in the competition to attractstudents, funding and cooperation partners. Thisstudy examines the peculiarities of the most popularinternational rankings and Moldovan presencetherein, in regional and global context. Both places inrankings and methodology were investigated basedon public information of offi cial web sites. There is alow visibility of Moldovan universities, mainly due toa poor performance in research and development. Inthis context, there are proposed immediate and longterm actions to improve the performance indicatorsin the university sector of the Republic of Moldova
