摘要:The article discusses the personality developmental peculiarities of an individual with intellectual deficiency. The authors argue that there is a necessity to clarify the criteria of such development, in particular, the formation of self-esteem of people with mental retardation. The conditions of its formation with developmental disabilities are discussed. It is concluded that it is necessary to take into account specific cultural and educational needs of the child with mental retardation in the process of his/her personality development analysis. When such a child masters the forms of culture appropriate to his/her needs, it should be considered as a basis for further education. The negative effects of inclusion of the children with mental disorders without considering their specific cultural and educational needs are discussed.
