摘要:This paper intends to approach the issue of metaphor within a new paradigm which understands it not as a mere rhetoric figure, but as an essential tool for human thought (Lakoff & Johnson, 1980). It shows that Letters students, despite countless problems concerning reading in general, are able to build complex metaphorical poetic readings due to the fact that they base their readings on ordinary conceptual metaphors.
