摘要:This article combines the results from the 2011 Eurydice study, which provides an overview of adult participation in formal education in EU member states based on the data from the Labour Force Survey (2009) and the Adult Education Survey (2007). Comparative indicators are presented that describe the status of the second chance education in adult education. These indicators consist of participation, cost per participant and the correlations of the forms of adult education: formal, non-formal and non-occupational. The focus of this article is on comparing the countries Sweden and Austria and providing findings on the politics and funding of the second chance education. It is investigated in which way the special form of the second chance education in Sweden (keyword knowledge lift) has contributed to the strength of adult education there and how the state and development of this path in Austria compares to it. Numerous figures and tables support the explanations.
