摘要:The objective of this study was to evaluate the consumption of supplements based on protein and the knowledge about food protein source for practitioners of weight training in gyms of the city of Toritama-PE. 53 practitioners of weight training who consumed exclusive protein supplementation aged between 18 and 40 years were evaluated. It was applied to the participants of this study a questionnaire about the practice of weight training, consumption and indication of supplements, and a space where they should cite three types of protein foods. It was observed that physical educators and coaches of gyms are the most indicated the consumption of supplements. About the consumption of protein foods, although a high percentage of accuracy, 30% of practitioners have cited foods that are not protein source. It is necessary the insertion of the professional nutritionist in the routine of gyms and improve practitioners' knowledge about protein foods.
