  • 摘要:Introduction: Both forwards and backs have anthropometric structure crucial for the success in sports. The high incidence of collisions requires physical characteristics of the players own speed, agility, endurance, strength, flexibility and other skills. The forwards need physical power, strength, a higher percentage of fat and muscle hypertrophy. The backs of speed, agility, good aerobic fitness and lower fat percentage. Objective: To analyze and compare with international standards body composition of Brazilian athletes of high level rugby. Methods: Participants were 22 elite athletes rugby boys. The variables collected were age, weight (Tanita digital scale Iroman ® model BC558), height (stadiometer Laser Strait-Line ®), and nine skinfolds (Lange) to calculate the percentage of fat (% BF) by Jackson and Pollock (1978). The study was approved by the Ethics Committee of the University Center (COEP 47/05) and the participants signed a consent form. Results: The sample had an average of 25 ± 4.7 years, 1.80 ± 0.10 m, 91.5 ± 12.7 kg and% G, 15.4 ± 5.7%. The monitoring of anthropometric rugby athletes featured area is parallel to the study of the evolution of the performance of professional players. It is well documented that in the amateur league players' G% gets to be 34% higher than the professional. The G% of Brazilian athletes, investigated in this study is among the forwards (15.2%) and backs (12.6%) professional league (Gabbett, 2002). Conclusion: Rugby is one of the most popular sports in the world and in Brazil is growing exponentially but few studies have traced the anthropometric profiles of players. Therefore, research studies can help trace cineantropomética somatotype future development of professional players from rugby league in Brazil, currently classified to compete in the 2016 Olympics.
