其他摘要:Rational - emotive behavior therapy considers that emotional discomfort emerges from a distorted interpretation of the world, that is, from an illogical and irrational sy s tem of beliefs. Because logic is a common factor in both, intelligence and irrational ideas, this research proposed the hypothesis that individuals with higher levels of intelligence have more logical processing and, therefore, lower irrational ideas. The goal of the study was to know the correlation between the intelligence quotient, as measured by the WAIS - III test, and the scores of irrational ideas, as measured by the Irrational Ideas Inventory of Ellis. The participants were 28 university students from Puebla, México, men and women. From 315 correlations obtained, ten wer e statist i cally significant. Although moderate, only five were in favor of the hypothesis.
