摘要：Este artículo analiza la const rucción intelectual del concepto de “ raza ” en tres países centroamericanos: Guatemala, El Sal vador y Costa Rica. Mediante el uso de herramientas semióticas , la primera parte de este trabajo explora cómo los intelectuales , a un sin proponerse trascender el c oncepto hegemónico de “raza” de la época , se las ingeniaron para rescatar a sus países de la omin osa inferioridad atribuida a las regiones coloniales por las construcciones raciales euro peas . ¿Cómo , entonces, lograron est os intelectuales construir discursi vamente un honorable espacio para las naciones cen troamericanas sin abiertamente retar el pensamien to europeo? En la segunda parte de este trabajo se analizan los diferentes niveles de discursividad sobre el mundo indígena para demostrar que el objeto de e nun ciación es clave para estudiar los discurs os en su contexto histórico . La intención es indagar las distancias existentes en las construcciones identitarias entre el indio en abstracto y el indio contemporáneo.
其他摘要：This article analyzes the intellectual construction of “race” in three Central American countries: Guatemala, El Salvador y Costa Rica. Based on semiotic tools , the first part of this study explores how intellectuals , tho ugh not attempting to transcend the hegemonic concept of “ race ” of the time, managed to rescue their countries from the ominous label of inferiority attributed to colonial regions by Europea n discourse . H ow , then, could these intellectuals construct an hon orable place to Central A merican nations at the discursive level without op enly ch allenging European thought? T he second section of this paper analy zes the different disc ursivity levels about the indigenous world to dem onstrate that the object of enunciati on is a crucial key to study discourses in their historical context . The idea is t o question the existing distances between the indian as a symbol and the contemporary i ndian concerning their constructions of identity .
