摘要:Pakistan since independence, has built leather and leather based industry from the old tradition sector. Pakistan being predominantly an agriculture country and has large livestock population, The leather industry is one of the most polluted industries because of water intensive in nature and the use of large quantities of chemicals and high pollution load in the form of effluents. Such effluents contain sulphides, chromium, and synthetic tannins biocides, detergents, dyes and proteins material. The aim of the aims and objectives to undertake this project is to underline hazards associated with leather manufacturing and See processes involved in purification and management of leather waste. It was concluded that Workers in the tanning industry may suffer from Anthrax, respiratory and skin irritations, chronic bronchitis, contact dermatitis, chrome ulceration, tetanus, Q fever, allergies, eczema, kidney stones, irritation of mucous membranes of the throat and nose, alteration of genetic material, lung cancer, Sino nasal cancer, pancreatic cancer, bladder and testicular cancer and death. Several injuries also occur due to slippery.
