摘要:Our aim is to analyse corporate governance of Spanish savings banks. Regional governments design some of the members of the governing bodies of Spanish savings banks. Such participation affects their public image and stability. Furthermore, public administrations involvement has implications in saving banks efficiency, either technical or allocative. In this respect, our analysis shows empirical evidence in favour of the hypothesis that a higher participation of regional governments in the board of directors reduces Spanish savings bank efficiency
