标题：Parenthood and Subsequent Employment: Changes in the Labor Participation of Fathers Across Cohorts as Compared to Mothers

摘要：This study analyzes how parenthood affects the employment biographies of fathers as compared to mothers. Using German data, we evaluate differences in how the birth of a first child affects men’s and women’s employment in the baby-boomer cohort (1956-65) compared to two older cohorts (1936-45 and 1946-55). As a result of educational expansion and the achievements of the feminist movement in the second half of the last century, we expected the employment biographies of men in the youngest cohort to have become more influenced by their family biographies and thus to be more subjected to change after parenthood. However, our results show men’s employment biographies are hardly affected by parenthood at all, across all cohorts.
