    The writer tried to measure the maximum value of statical frictional resistance of HINOKI-WOOD (parallel to the grain) in the various wet conditions. The results obtained by this experiment are as follows: 1) There exists a linear relation between the frictional resistance F and the corres-ponding load W in each case of different wet conditions. (see fig. 3) 2) The numerical value of F increases almost linearly with the increase in the moisture content x. (see fig. 5) The rate of increase in the coefficient of friction (f=F/W) to the moisture content x is about 2.01/100(%)_??_2.06/100(%). 3) The numerical value of F in the perfectly wet condition does not become the maximum, but considerably small comparing with the maximum value. (see fig. 5) 4) The numerical value of f of the wood in the air-dried-state always varied with the variation of the moisture and the temperature in the atomesphere. The coefficent of f to the equilibrium moisture content is about 1.0/100(%)_??_0.6/100(%). (see fig. 4)
