We have been improving upon the method of preparing gold particles in gelatin layer using photographic materials. By recording an interference fringes, we obtained a hologram consisting of gold particles by this method. After baking the gratings at 460°C the gelatin layer was burned out, and the gold particles were fused and formed a gold layer. Then, we obtained the gratings made of striped gold metal layers stuck on the glass plate. Gratings of 250 n-1μm pitch were observed with AFM. The maximum diffraction efficiencies were about 9% at transmitted light for the grating without baking and 1.6% at reflected light for the baked one. It would be possible to prepare hologram images stable even in severe environments with this method.
