In the systhetic study on organic functional materials, more than a hundred compounds containing sulfur and/or nitrogen atoms, such as S -(disubstituted thiocarbamoyl)- N -(substituted formyl) sulfenamides (2), and their related compounds, S -(disubstituted thiocarbamoyl) thiooximes (9), and various heterocycles, were newly synthesized. Their antifogging activity for color film of silver halide photograph were examined as a kind of their functionalities. As a results, it was found that the thiooximes 9 as well as the sulfenamides 2 are also an excellent antifoggants which have been shown to be superior to conventional ones mentioned in a previous report, and that their skeletal structure which has a C=S group and its neiboring nitrogen is remarkably responsible for their antifogging asctivity.
