The purpose of Part 4 is to analyze where and with whom the couples living in Setagaya Ward spend their days. This might give an indication of how they can improve their daily lives, enjoy their leisure and spend their lives after retirement. The results were shown by “Place” and “People who they spend time with, ” and these were shown along with the time spent on each activity in order to clarify the couples' relationships. The survey was conducted with couples who were residing in Setagaya Ward in September of 1990. It asked how they spent their time and had related questionnaires. An analysis was made based on the responses from 110 couples. The results are; 1) Wives spend longer hours for “Entertainment, education, culture and sports” than their husbands on weekdays. On weekends, husbands spend more time than their wives for those activities. 2) Husbands are now tending to spend their time for their hobbies and entertainment at cultural facilities after work. 3) The length of time that husbands spend with their spouses and children depends on whether wives have jobs or what their work shifts are. 4) On weekdays wives who have part time jobs spend longer hours with “Friends” and “People at club or circle” than any other persons. On weekends the married couples who both have full time jobs spend their time with “People at club or circle” rather than with other married couples. 5) It is obvious that the couples have less communication with their neighbors. In other words their life-styles are just like those of people in big cities.
