Rural to urban mobility has become a prominent social phenomenon. Based on the data of a field survey in Hebei Province of China, this study estimated the multinomial logit model to find determinants of floating migration with particular attention to education and net agricultural income. We found that farmers with less education were more likely to participate in floating migration and local off-farm activities. Especially, lower educational levels of elementary school and junior high school were statistically significant and positive factors affecting floating migration and local off-farm activities. Furthermore, farmers with less net agricultural income were also more likely to take part in floating migration and local off-farm activities. JEL Classification: C42, J61, R10, R23
