Model experiments of bending vibration were carried out in order to verify the validity of the analytical method of computing the natural frequencies of vertical vibration of cargo ships described in the previous paper(1). The models, which were made of Acrylite plate, were eight box girders with transverse bulkheads and two ship-shaped wall-sided vessels with bulkheads, deck-openings and bottom construction as the ordinary cargo ships. The results of the experiments carried out both in air and on water showed that the observed natural frequencies and the observed shapes of normal modes of vibration were in good agreement with the analytically calculated values.
