  • 摘要:For improving the accuracy of molecular weight distribution (MWD) analysis of photographic gelatin, electrophoretic conditions in sodium dodecyl sulfate/polyacrylamide gel system (SDS/PAGE) were investigated in detail.A good separation was obtained by overlaying a concentrating layer on the separating gel with a gradient of 2.5 to 10% acrylamide.The result of various pretreatments strongly suggests that dodecyl sulfate ions rapidly bind to gelatin molecules at room temperature and also that the resulted complexes directly reach the most stable conformation without staying at metastable states.From the data of 33 IAG gelatins, some characteristics of MWD patterns in the gelatin types have been recognized.The result of silver staining suggests the existence of certain selective interactions between gelatin molecules and silver ions.
