  • 摘要:Kinetics of J-aggregation by salting out of 1, 1'-diethyl-2, 2'-cyanine chloride (Dye 1) from dilute aqueous solutions have been studied by mixing Dye 1 solutions with concentrated sodium sulfate solutions in a rapid solution mixing device and measuring the optical absorbance of the mixture at J-band maximum as a function of time with a conventional ultraviolet spectrophotometer. The aggregation rate was larger at lower temperatures, suggesting that nucleation was the rate-determining step of J-aggregation. From the concentration-dependence of the rate, the reaction order of nucleation of J-aggregates was calculated to be about 5, using an n-th order rate equation modified to apply to nucleation systems with low supersaturations. The temperature-dependence of residual monomer concentration at the end of the reaction gave a mean enthalpy of 42 kJ/mol for the dissolution of monomers from J-aggregates.
