摘要:Effects of composition variations of thiocyanate and thiosulfate as fixing agents in a P-Q monobath on the developed silver were investigated. When the total concentration of fixing agents is increased at the same mixing ratio or the same thiocyanate content, the amount of developed silver is decreased and the covering power is increased as the grain size is reduced. These appear to be the result of both dissolution of exposed grains and depression of development by increasing the rate of fixing. When the mixing ratio is varied while the total concentration or thiosulfate content is kept constant, an increase in thiocyanate leads to larger amount of developed silver and lowers the covering power to make the grain more compact. In view of these, the most reasonable conclusion is that thiocyanate acts as a powerful accelerator for development, particularly solution-physical development, in a monobath.
