摘要:Introduction: colostrotherapy consists of administering drops of colostrum directly into the baby's oral mucosa in order to stimulate the immune response, which is absorbed and forms a protective barrier. Objective: to present the importance of colostrotherapy for the health of the newborn in stimulating the immune system of premature infants against neonatal infections. Methods: this is an integrative review, listing articles from the BDENF, LILACS and MEDLINE databases through the Virtual Health Library, conducted in 2021. Results: 39 articles were selected. Of these, 4 were excluded because of duplicates and 26 for not bringing results that added to this review. At the end of the selection process, 9 articles were retrieved. The selected articles were distributed during the period from 2013 to 2021, with the exception of 2015 where there were no publications on mathematics. Conclusion: meeting the proposed objectives, the development of this study allowed evidencing that colostral therapy consists of a safe and favorable practice to reduce neonatal infections, when adopted this practice stimulates the immune system of the newborn, acting as a natural probiotic. Therefore, colostrum confers the formulation of the immune system, provides growth and protection factors for preterm newborns because it is rich in antibodies.
