摘要:Ventilator associated pneumonia is one of a common type among hospital acquired infection. It may occurs when the patient take help to ventilator for the artificial breathing. the (breathing) mechanical ventilation maintain, by means of an endotracheal tube or tracheostomy. The study was conducted with the objectives to assess the level of knowledge and attitude, to assess the effectiveness of video assisted teaching module, to associate the pre test level of Knowledge and attitude with selected demographic variableand to correlate the level of Knowledge with attitude regarding prevention of ventilator associated pneumonia. An evaluatory research approach with pre experimental one group pretest and post test design was used for this study. The target population for the study was staff nurses who are working in ICU at selected hospitals, Kanpur. Sample size were 40 staff nurses, were selected by purposive sampling technique and structured questionnaire and five point likert scale was used for this study to collect the data. Data analysis was done by using inferential statistics on the basis of objectives of the study. The result shows that 33 (82.5%) having adequate knowledge level, 07 (17.5%) having Moderate knowledge level and in attitude 31 (77.5%) having Positive attitude, 09 (22.5%) having Negative attitude level of staff nurses regarding prevention of ventilator associated pneumonia. The maximum mean knowledge score was 12.06, and the Standard Deviation was 5.15 and same as the mean attitude score was 81.6 and standard Deviation was 16.1. With respect to association between the level of knowledge and attitude with the selected demographic variables shows no significance. The study concludes that, the knowledge and attitude level of nurses regarding prevention on ventilator associated pneumonia is average, the study suggest that proper teaching and adequate training regarding prevention on ventilator associated pneumonia will be helpful for the staff nurses to gain knowledge made positive attitude.
