摘要：To compare the antimicrobial activity of chamomile and clove mouthwash with commercial mouthwash MATERIALS AND METHODS: Herbal mouthwash (Chamomile and Clove) and Commercial mouthwash were used.They were used in three different concentrations. Chamomile and clove mouthwash were tested against 4 organisms - Streptococcus mutans, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis and Candida albicans. RESULTS:The formulated chamomile,clove and commercial mouthwash were evaluated for its antimicrobial activity against oral pathogens; candida albicans, streptococcus mutans, staphylococcus aureus and Lactobacillus.The antimicrobial activity of this mouthwash was evaluated using the zone of inhibition (ZOI) against microbial cultures. CONCLUSION:Chamomile and clove mouthwash exhibit excellent dose dependent inhibition activity against the Streptococcus mutans, Hence, chamomile and clove mouthwash proves to be a safer alternative for infections caused by streptococcus mutans.
