摘要:The cultivation of cowpea is important for farmers in the lowlands of Autazes-Amazon, as it constitutes an additional component that can not only be used as a source of food, but also as another source of income. Cowpea is widely exploited by family farming in the North region as one of the main sources of protein for human consumption, however, there are still flaws in the production system of the culture in the region. This study aimed to evaluate the performance of cowpea (Vigna unguiculta L. Walp) cultivars in a lowland environment in the municipality of Autazes. The work was carried out on a rural property located in the floodplain area of the municipality of Autazes/AM, whose activity is exclusively livestock. The cowpea cultivars used were IPEAN-V69, BR-5 Cana Verde, BR-8 Caldeiro, Tracuateua, acquired from the CPAA/EMBRAPA of Manaus, and the cultivar Corujinha, The cultivar Corujinha was the earliest, flowering at 34 days. after planting. This characteristic of the Corujinha cultivar is the parameter that local farmers use for their choice. The cultivars BR-5 Cana Verde and Tracuateua were the most efficient in accumulating shoot and total biomass, while there was no difference between the cultivars for root dry matter yield. Nodulation was very low in all cultivars, both in terms of number and weight of dry nodules. Nitrogen in the shoot was higher in the corujinha cultivar, and the cultivar BR-5 Cana verde was the least efficient in accumulating this nutrient. The other cultivars showed intermediate levels between these two cultivars. Only the cultivars BR-5 Cana verde and IPEAN V-69 showed higher yields than the average yield of cowpea in the county of Autazes.
