摘要:Plants have been used by humans since the beginning of their history on the face of the planet, for various purposes, be they food, medicinal, ornamental and many others. However spontaneous plants, also known as weeds, unwanted plants and for other nomenclatures, have in common the ability to appear in the most diverse environments without being cultivated, thus growing spontaneously. As well as cultivated vegetables, these plants also have several uses and potentialities, however they are still low known to the general public. Therefore, this research aims to develop a scientometric analysis of studies with spontaneous plants in Brazil, in order to assess how the group is currently characterized, and indicate its possibilities for future studies in the country. The present review addressed studies in Brazil, through queries to through physical (archives, libraries and others) and digital databases (Alice, Google Scholar, Research Gate, Scielo and Scopus), within a time frame from 1980 to 2021, containing in their titles the term “plantas espontaneas”. The study concludes that there is still much to be addressed on the subject in the country, such as its anthroponic relationships, such as bioindicator, medicinal, non-conventional food plants (panc) and others.
