摘要:Historically, shrimp fisheries has been generating a expressive bycatch independly of gear tipology (active or passive). In South America, shrimp fyke nets are usually adopt in artisanal scale with previous works suggesting the environmental impact derived from this catch approach. To reduce bycatch assimilation, the adoption of bycatch reduction devices (BRDs) represents one suitanable possibility. In our work we valuated the refining of fan panel in shrimp fyke nets to reduce bycatch assimilation. Thirteen fishing trips were performed using control gears (CG) and modified gears, that is, with the fan panel refining (MG) (13 fishing effort with CG and 13 fishing efforts with MG, respectively). After those campaigns we caught 697 shrimps, 435 crabs and 476 juveniles of bony fishes. MG revealed an increase of "target resource / bycatch" relation in relation to CG, once this one caught more shrimps than CG. Gerreidae family were the most proeminent bycatch in fishing campaigns. MG showed 54% of increase shrimp catches bu without significative bycatch reductions. Although the bycatch reduction possibility did not be reach it the technological alternative proposed in this work can to contribute to higher shrimp catches, increasing the local fishermen income generation.
