摘要:Objective: Evaluate the handgrip strength (HS) and factors associated with their depletion in individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD) submitted hemodialysis. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional, observational, and quantitative study held between February and March 2020 at a reference center on hemodialysis, in the State, of Alagoas. Data collection divided into the following steps: application of a characterization questionnaire, obtaining anthropometric measurements through electronic medical records, and measuring the HS performed using a digital handgrip dynamometer. The results it analyzed in Excel, and the statistical analysis performed using the SPSS software. The distribution of the mean was examined according to selected categories. It is recognized as the value of statistical significance, p values less than 5%. Results: observed that the HS was statistically lower (p <0.05) in females, in individuals who did not drink alcohol, in diabetics, and those with body mass index (BMI) corresponding to low weight. Conclusion: Biological conditions, clinical conditions, and lifestyle have a negative influence on HS and, consequently, contribute to the depletion of the functional capacity of these individuals.
