摘要：Introduction: Diseases of the circulatory system reflect the high prevalence of deaths registered in the country and in the world. In this sense, the elderly have major risk factors for the occurrence of these deaths, added to changes resulting from the aging process. Objective: To identify the main causes of mortality from circulatory diseases in the elderly in the State of Pará. Methodology: This is a descriptive, retrospective study with a quantitative and epidemiological approach, using secondary data from the Mortality Information System. Data were processed in electronic spreadsheets prepared in Microsoft EXCEL, followed by interpretation of results, through descriptive analysis of the population. Results: A total of 64,115 deaths from diseases of the circulatory system were registered in the State of Pará in the historical series from 2010 to 2019, with the majority being male, aged 80 years or more, mixed race, married and without education. As for the deaths of the elderly that occurred according to the cause - ICD-BR-10, in Pará, it was observed the domain of cerebrovascular diseases, ischemic heart diseases and acute myocardial infarction. Conclusion: It was observed that diseases of the circulatory system are the main causes of death in the elderly in Pará, with the majority of cases in the elderly aged 80 years. Such aspects may be linked to socioeconomic conditions, changes in the circulatory system evidenced by aging and the difficulties presented by health services to promote early detection of cases and continuous monitoring, in order to avoid clinical problems.
