摘要:Canine Visceral Leishmaniasis (CVL) is an endemic disease of worldwide character and of great importance for Public Health, transmitted through the bites of the female sand fly Lutzomyia longipalpis, known as the straw mosquito. It has a high rate of deaths in humans and animals, with a high occurrence in the State of Ceará. The objective of this work was to carry out an epidemiological study and its social correlation on the incidence of CVL in the city of Fortaleza, with data collection in several neighborhoods in the region, which are relocated in regions from I to XII, through the project of the Municipality of Fortaleza called VetMóvel, in addition to performing a correlation between the number of inhabitants and abandoned animals. The screening test for leishmaniasis (TR-DPP) was performed in 12,132 animals, for the period from June 2018 to March 2021, obtaining a positive result of 1.3%. The casuistry was more observed in the months with increased rainfall density and in regions V and VI, corroborating previous studies. The number of abandoned animals reached a rate of 150,000, obtaining the highest number of cases in regions with a financial average of half the minimum wage. It is important for government projects to control animal diseases so that mandatory prophylactic measures are taken not only for other healthy animals but for humans as well. It is also noteworthy that sero-reactive animals are not the main contributors to the spread of the disease, including socioeconomic and environmental conditions as predisposing factors.
