摘要:Traumatic grief care and research in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic can be immense for bereaved family members and intimates by the coronavirus. In many cases, there were restrictions around visiting the loved one in hospital settings. Possibilities for interactions between family members and their suffering loved ones were restricted by protective masks and gloves. Ill patients deteriorated so fast that there were no options for notifying family members before the patient had to be intubated. Saying last goodbyes and comforting each other, so necessary in these times, were only limitedly possible. Funerals for bereaved individuals had to be organized with none or only a small number of visitors, and rituals could not always be performed. Method: Experts will discuss the impact of these restrictions on grief reactions in bereaved individuals and reflect on the societal attitude towards grieving from their respective countries. Results: Improvements for the detection and treatment of disordered grief will be proposed. Conclusions: Lastly, they will analyze the current barriers in doing research in the traumatic grief field and look forward to future directions for traumatic grief care and research in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
