摘要:AbstractA method to compute optimal start times of products in a given order processed in a flow shop with stochastic processing times is presented. The objective is to minimize both the total makespan of the products and the number of products which violate no-wait-constraints. Two methods to solve the optimization problems were developed. Problems with only a few machines can be solved by analytically computing the stochastic process flow of the products. For the optimization of systems with more machines, a method based on Monte Carlo (MC) simulations is described. The optimization of a production process in an industrial rolling mill is shown. Finally, the advantages of the optimization methods are demonstrated by comparison with some ad-hoc methods of handling stochastic processing times.
