摘要:Abstract Japan is a major market for Australia’s dairy products, taking about 4 per cent of Australia’s US$3.1 b food and live animal exports to Japan in 1995. Per capita consumption of milk and dairy products in Japan is not as high as in western countries, but has increased markedly over the last three decades. This paper investigates the consumption of milk in Japan using information obtained for nine Japanese regions. A major finding of this study is that consumption of milk in Japan at the regional and national level is effected by a range of structural factors including age of consumer and household size. The results of the study suggests that analysts may obtain greater understanding of the Japanese market by carrying out analyses on a regional basis rather than by focusing on information for the country as a whole.
