摘要:Tobaco mosaic virus (TMV) is a deadly plantvirus with serious economic implications resulting indecrease crop-yield production. In recent years,en-vironmentally friendly components for managingcrop diseases have been developed as alternatives tochemical pesticides, including the use of agrowastelike pomegranate peels. Our studies were carried outto determine the chemical constituents of pomegran-ate peels and their sonicated nanoparticles. The pre-sent study is aimed to study the toxic effect of To-baco mosaic virus (TMV) infections with eitherpomegranate peels (PPs) and their nanoparticles(PPNPs) extract treatments as antioxidant and anti-viral agent by using the local lesion assay on Daturametel. The virus was obtained from infected tobaccoplants. The pomegranate peels were extracted byphosphate buffer,pH7.2 and the homogenates wereused itselfor after developed based on the ultrasoundthen the transmission electron microscopy (TEM)analysis showed that nanoparticles ranged from 15-to 30 nm.Chemical composition compounds weredetermined; also, genetic diversity of plant sampleswas estimated using RAPD and ISSR molecularmarkers. Our results showed that the antiviral ex-tracts of PPs and PPNPs used had significant effectsin decreasing the number of local lesions formed bythe challenge inoculation of TMV.The PPNPs ex-tract was found to be the highest effective againstTMV,which may be due to their chemical composi-tion which contain high concentrations of monosac-charides,amino acids, phenolic and flavonoids com-pounds and antioxidant activity (DPPH).In addition,Results showed that tested ex tracts obtained fromPPS or PPNP have no effect on DNA of Daturametel Plants. At the same time, the viral infectionwas inhibited, which made them safe as biologicalmater ials. Therefore, this study recommends the ap-plication of the agrowaste (PPS or PPNPs) as eco-friendly antiviral.
