摘要:Engine oils and especially used engine oils belong to a group of products that are considered to have a major negative impact on the environment. On the other hand, consumers’ knowledge of the specific nature of engine oils helps to make a better choice of its optimal variant and its subsequent management. The questions that vehicle users (1446 drivers from Poland) were asked in this study were to determine their level of interest in the subject of oils and their awareness regarding the need to change the engine oil.Questions also concerned the environmental awareness as to the management of used engine oils, their ecological aspects, and the possibility of reusing. The results show that 26% of vehicle users declare lack of interest in the subject matter.14%,however,declare having broader knowledge about engine oils. Those who declare basic knowledge of engine oils are a dominating group and constitute 60% of all respondents.Technical aspects, such as viscosity grade and quality classification were not indicated in correspondence analysis as ones that dominate drivers’ choices.Nearly 80% of drivers leave used oil in the car service and do not care about how it is handled.Unfortunately,Vt of respondents were not able to indicate any method of dealing with used engine oils.
