摘要:In the 2017-2018 academic year, the TEOG exam, which was applied as the Transition System from Primary Education to Secondary Education, was replaced by a new examination system called the High School Entrance Exam (LGS). This study aims to investigate LGS mathematical problems, which are publicly referred to as "new generation questions" according to teachers’ and students’ views. Thus, this research is a qualitative descriptive study aiming to determine middle school mathematics teachers’ and students’ opinions regarding LGS mathematical problems implemented since 2018. In the study, two semi-structured interview forms, namely the teacher form and the student form, were used as data collection tools. The interviews were conducted with the teachers and the students individually in an online setting by the researchers. The data were analyzed through the content analysis method. In line with the results obtained, it can be said that LGS contains problems that require high-level cognitive skills such as understanding, reasoning, applying, interpreting, analyzing, daily life situations, and where mathematical concepts and information are given with a specific set up. The results show that although the awareness level of teachers towards LGS mathematical problems is high, their perceived instructional approach is not compatible with the ideal approaches. It can be said that some steps should be taken in order to overcome the lack of knowledge experienced by teachers.
