  • 摘要:To analyze the pollution characteristics and health risk of heavy metals (Pb, Cu, Cd, Cr, N i and Zn) in topsoil from Bengbu educational zone, a total of 34 samples were collected, and the health risk model developed by the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) was used to assess the health risk of heavy metals to children and adults. The results showed that the mean concentrations of Cd and Cu were 11.86- and 1.18- fold higher than those in the local natural soils, respectively, whereas Pb, Cr, N i and Zn were all w ithin their background values. The pollution load and geo­accumulation indexes indicated that Cd was the most serious pollutant, due to the contribution of Cd, the comprehensive contamination in topsoil was at moderate level. Health risk assessment showed that direct ingestion was the major expo­sure pathway for both adults and children, the haz­ard index of heavy metals for non-carcinogenic risk was 0.06 for adults and 0.38 for children, and the total carcinogenic risk value was 1.49x 10-7. These three values were all lower than the target risk thresholds, indicating that the adverse health effects m ight not occur in the research area.
