摘要:Conventional carbon fiber drilling produces defects such as cracking, fiber/matrix degradation and internal delaminations. Abrasive waterjet machining (AWJM) lowers the temperature of cutting process and, therefore, simplifies the perforation in the material. This work proposes a cutting parameters study of carbon fiber reinforced (CFRP) drilling. Transverse feed rate, abrasive mass flow rate and stand-off distance are the input variables that have been modified for the realization of the experiment. A macroscopic analysis has been carried out, which has taken into account kerf taper produced by spread of the jet and delaminations generated by the impact of the jet on the surface of the material. A stereoscopical microscope (SOM) and an images treatment have been employed for acquisition and data analysis.
